Frequently Asked Questions

🧠 What is Occupational Therapy?

Occupational Therapy helps children build the skills they need to take part in everyday life. This can include play, self-care, learning, emotional regulation, social participation and becoming more independent.

I commonly support children with autism, ADHD, developmental differences and sensory processing needs.

🎯 How do I know if my child might benefit from OT?

Your child may benefit from OT if they are having difficulty with:

  • Focus and attention

  • Handwriting or other fine motor tasks

  • Dressing, using cutlery or completing daily routines

  • Managing frustration or big emotions

  • Moving between activities

  • Social interaction and play

  • Planning, organisation or remembering instructions

OT can help work out what may be contributing to these difficulties and find practical strategies that suit your child.

👶 What age group do you work with?

I mainly work with children and teenagers aged 2 to 18 years.

I may also work with young adults who are developing independence, routines and everyday living skills.

💬 What does a typical session look like?

Every session looks a little different depending on your child’s age, interests and goals.

A session may include movement or sensory activities, followed by activities focused on skills such as handwriting, fine motor development, emotional regulation, attention, problem-solving, self-care or social participation.

I try to keep sessions practical and enjoyable so your child feels comfortable taking part.

🏡 Where do sessions take place?

I currently provide Saturday sessions:

  • In your home

  • In community settings such as libraries, parks or playgrounds

  • Online through Telehealth, where appropriate

I do not currently provide school, kindergarten or childcare sessions.

💳 What funding can I use?

I currently accept:

  • Self-managed NDIS funding

  • Plan-managed NDIS funding

  • Private payment

  • Medicare Chronic Disease Management plans, where eligible

  • Private health insurance, where Occupational Therapy is included in your cover

I am not currently able to support NDIA-managed participants.

🕐 How long are OT sessions?

Most appointments include 50 minutes of therapy and 10 minutes for clinical notes.

The length of the appointment may vary depending on your child’s age, needs and goals. Longer appointments may be recommended for assessments or more detailed sessions.

🧾 Do you charge for travel or paperwork?

Yes. Travel and additional work completed outside of therapy sessions may be charged in line with current NDIS pricing guidelines.

This may include:

  • Travel time and kilometres

  • Reports and letters

  • Additional resource development

  • Longer phone calls or emails

  • Communication with other professionals involved in your child’s care

Any additional costs will be discussed with you beforehand.

💻 How do Telehealth sessions work?

Telehealth sessions take place through a video call and can be useful for older children, young adults or families who prefer an online appointment.

Sessions may include activities, visual resources, movement breaks, discussion and parent coaching, depending on the child’s goals.

Telehealth will not suit every child, so we can discuss whether it is a good option for your family.

🧩 What’s your therapeutic approach?

I use a strengths-based and neurodiversity-affirming approach. This means getting to know your child as an individual and building therapy around their strengths, interests and support needs.

Sessions are play-based and practical, with a focus on helping children feel safe, understood and confident.
